Stock assessment and catch predicition of the filefish, Thamnaconus septentrionalis,have been carried out for more than 10 years by using Virtual Population Analysis (VPA) with the help of microcomputer. With the development of microcomputer technology,the assessment method was also improved. The results from practice showed that the present work is useful to both fishing industry and fishery management.
